A project of Restaurant Opportunities Center—Michigan, the Colors Co-op Academy is an intensive learning experience designed to cultivate new, worker-owned, “good food” businesses rooted in the principles of democracy, sustainability, and justice. By connecting with movements for worker and food justice, the Colors Co-op Academy collectively re-imagines and transforms workplaces, communities, and the local economy. C2BE has partnered to teach classes about cooperative culture, choice of entity, self-management, and product/market fit at the Colors Co-op Academy.
Founded in 2008, ROC-Michigan is dedicated to winning improved working conditions and opportunities for advancement for Southeast Michigan’s 134,000 restaurant workers, many of whom work for low pay with little to no benefits.
